Congress Centre (Rondo Grunwaldzkie)

  • 01 February 2016

The ICE Kraków Congress Centre features some of Europe’s most modern and multifunctional conference halls. Investment into this project has been a major step forward in the city’s urban development.

ICE Krakow offers a chance for organising all kinds of events. As a result, there is a huge interest in the facility.

Izabela Helbin, Director of Kraków Festival Office

The design of ICE Kraków puts it in line with the most innovative congress centres in Europe. The building consists of three main halls: an Auditorium, a Theatre Hall and Chamber Hall with the respective capacity of 2 000, 600 and 400. Each one includes moveable walls, exceptional acoustic quality and high technological features.

With a view of Wawel Castle, the ICE Kraków’s three floor foyer also offers a set of smaller and easily adjustable conference halls, multifunctional rooms or exhibition halls. In order to facilitate transportation to and from the venue, special measures have also been undertaken including creation of ground level parking, a bus terminal and a two-level underground parking lot for 350 vehicles.

The foundations for urban development

The project, co-financed by European funds, was aimed at one of the Europe2020 objectives – ‘promoting employment & supporting labour mobility’. As a result of the project, 42 jobs have been created while Krakow’s reputation as a business hub has also grown.

Despite its well-established position in the tourist market, Poland’s second largest city, Krakow, has lacked a modern purpose-built conference venue. This was the guiding idea behind the investment and now the city can utilise an interdisciplinary venue that offers 36 720 square metres of space which showcases the highest standards in terms of technology and architecture.

Total investment and EU funding

Total investment for the project “The Congress Centre (Rondo Grunwaldzkie)” is EUR 91 286 764, of which the EU’s European Regional Development Fund is contributing EUR 18 403 338 from the Regional Operational Programme “Lesser Poland” for the 2007 to 2013 programming period.
