Programme description

The OP 'Autonomous City of Melilla' has a volume of €9.4 million, of which €7.5 come from the EU budget. It aims to contribute to tackling the needs and challenges in the city of Melilla, mainly through fighting high unemployment, promoting entrepreneurship and improving education levels of active population.

To promote employment and social inclusion, the programme foresees measures to facilitate access to employment for job-seekers and inactive people; promote self-employment and entrepreneurship; improve adaptation of workers, enterprises and entrepreneurs to change; combat discrimination and promoting equal opportunities; reduce and prevent early school leaving; and improve the labour market relevance of education and training systems.

The target population is identified as the long-term unemployed, young people under 25, unemployed women and people over the age of 50.

Investments are foreseen along four priorities: employment (58.6%), social inclusion (24.1%), education (13.5%) and technical assistance (3.8%).

Expected impact

  • 1,297 participants should increase their employability in sustainable jobs and their integration in the labour market
  • 1.591 participants should benefit from measures to increase equal opportunities
  • 840 participants should increase their competences in the field of research and innovation
