RP Umbria ERDF 2021-2027
Programme description
The Umbria European Regional Development Funding programme for Umbria supports the green and digital transition of the region, with focused investments around five key priorities:
- “Competitiveness through research and innovation”. This priority sets out to improve the region’s capacity to innovate and compete by investing more resources in research and innovation in the sectors identified in the Smart Specialisation Strategy. This will be achieved by shifting SMEs production towards more technology-intensive sectors while promoting innovation and internationalisation to the benefit of most traditional sectors of the economy.
- “Sustainability by tackling climate change, transition to a zero-emission and circular economy”. The promotion of environmental sustainability and resilience is a key step to ensure high quality economic growth. To achieve this goal, EU funds will support for energy efficiency in enterprises and public buildings. Further investments will tackle risk preparedness, prevention and protection, particularly for landslide, storm and seismic adaptation of strategic buildings. EU funds will also drive the push towards a more efficient use of resources and waste management well as the protection of nature and biodiversity through investments in blue and green infrastructures.
- “Sustainable urban mobility” promotes the use of zero emission local public transport and encourages soft mobility modes such as cycling, in line with the objectives of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans for each targeted urban area.
- “Innovative and social culture”, strives to promote social innovation and inclusion through investments in the culture sector. Cultural and public heritage spaces represent key asset for inclusion and social innovation and creation of jobs.
- “Cohesion, sustainability and attractiveness”, aims at improving basic services, mobility and access to public spaces to promote the role of urban areas. In parallel, it supports inner areas fighting demographic decline through better access to public services and the cultural and economic revitalization of territories.
The programme invests considerable resources in supporting sustainable urban development, and foresees targeted interventions to strengthen the administrative capacity of municipal actors in the framework of integrated territorial strategies.
