Main objectives
The Programme aims to develop the Trans European Network for Transport (TEN-T) in Bulgaria and to make transport safer and more sustainable.
Construction of new infrastructure will stimulate the Bulgarian economy. Better transport connections will create new business opportunities and lower the costs for transporting goods.
Funding priorities
The Programme focusses on five priority axes:
Expected impacts
- Modernisation/reconstruction of 190 km railway line (on the line Sofia – Plovdiv - Burgas)
- Construction of 62 km of motorway (on Struma Motorway)
- Improved navigational conditions on the Danube (e.g. new multipurpose vessels)
- Increased transport safety by rail, road, water, and air (e.g. improved safety standards)
- Improved public transport (an additional 16 km of lines and 19 metro stations for line 3 by 2020)
