Revitalisation of Poland railway number 353 improves capacity and reduces travel times

An overhaul of the Poznań Wschód – Skandawa railway line will improve the quality of transport services in Poland and enhance the technical condition of the railway. The project will also increase attractiveness of railway services by shortening travel times and improving comfort for passengers.

Additional tools

The project involves revitalisation of railway line number 353 Poznań Wschód – Skandawa, on the section between Inowrocław and Jabłonowo Pomorskie stations, excluding the Toruń Główny - Toruń Wschodni section.  The total length of the revitalised railway line, which is part of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T), is 88 km.

Beneficiaries of the reinvigorated railway include the inhabitants of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region, as well as those residing in nearby regions and all carriers using this section of the railway line. Under the project, travel times are shorter, and travel comfort and service quality for passengers are improved. The capacity of the railway line is also increased, allowing more carriers to use the line and make the journey more quickly.

Technical parameters

Investment in line number 353 allows substructure work to be conducted, tamping tracks and turnouts, building a protective layer and drainage, modernising of level crossings, ancillary automation works, ancillary electrical works, and refurbishment of civil engineering structures including culverts, viaducts, a bridge, and a pedestrian underpass. Axle load limits and maximum train speeds of 120 km/h for passenger trains and 100 km/h for freight trains are also being restored on the railway line.

Total investment and EU funding
