Europe’s most modern coat hanger production
A new production facility in Bersbuch, western Austria, reinforces MEVO Metzler GmbH’s global leadership in the production of coat hangers for laundry and dry cleaners.
" Trading worldwide – in such small and wonderful place like Bregenzerwald! "
The project enabled a new production facility to be built and production equipment to be upgraded.
A small business from Austria’s Vorarlberg region, MEVO Metzler is one of the top companies in the global market for laundry and dry cleaner products, such as wire coat hangers, plastic film, paper, and other accessories. MEVO Metzler GmbH employs about 50 people at their 3 Austrian locations. About 360 million coat hangers are produced every year, which corresponds to a market share of about 50 % in Europe. Almost all of the produced goods – 94 % – are exported.
Latest technology and innovative products
The new facility in Bersbuch opened in 2008. It not only increases the company’s overall productivity, but thanks to state-of-the-art technology, more than 40 different types of hangers, using 12 different wire strengths, can be produced. This enables MEVO to react more flexibly to customers’ wishes.
In addition, two special types of coat hangers are produced at Bersbuch: the MevoMediahanger advertising hanger, and the coloured MevoRainbow hanger, both of which can be personalised.
Support for innovation and technological development
The project secures jobs and strengthens the profile of Vorarlberg as an internationally competitive region. The project generated 23 new jobs.
The factory benefits from its location and the proximity to Germany, Switzerland, and the steel works in Italy. Currently, it is the most modern wire and hanger production facility in the world, and hopes to displace Chinese suppliers on the European market as well as to enter the market in the United States.
