    The European Commission has zero-tolerance to fraud. It shares responsibility with EU Member States for ensuring that EU Funds are spent properly. The EU Funds Anti-fraud Knowledge and Resource website has been published by the Directorate general for regional and urban policy (DG REGIO) and the European anti-fraud office (OLAF).

    A new step towards setting up of the European Urban Initiative supported by ERDF


    In our fast-changing world, Europe is facing pressing societal challenges – environmental degradation and climate change, the digital revolution, demographic transition, migration and social inequalities – and cities are often in the frontline to deliver solutions. Cohesion policy is at the heart of this process – both in terms of funding support and of fostering strategic, integrated and inclusive approach to address todays’ challenges of cities. For the 2021-27 period, the European Commission proposes the launch of a new European Urban Initiative to support cities with innovative actions, capacity and knowledge building, policy development and communication on sustainable urban development.

    European Structural and Investment Funds: spending doubled in 2019-2020


    The rate of investment of the five European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI Funds) in the European Union has accelerated significantly in the past two years, from 28% of the total envelope in 2018 to 56% at the end of 2020, according to a report published today by the Commission.

    b-solutions to cross-border obstacles: a complementary cooperation tool


    Since 2017, the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR), a pan-European network of border and cross-border regions, has managed the b-solutions initiative. The aim is to enable public bodies and cross-border structures to address systematically legal and administrative border obstacles and access specialised technical support to find solutions.

    Survey on Open Data for EU Funds in shared management


    Later this year we will redevelop #ESIFOpenData to reflect the new EU budget shared management programmes adopted for 2021-2027. The current open data platform provides unique financial and performance monitoring information on the EU funds managed in partnership with the regions and Member States.
