The project “Vilawatt” is modernising old and poorly renovated buildings in the Spanish city of Viladecans to increase their energy efficiency.

The project “Vilawatt” is also rewarding the citizens for their energy savings by transforming them into a digital currency called Villawatt. This currency can be used in around 400 businesses around the city for products like baby clothing and in accessories stores.

The project is part of the Urban Innovative Actions Initiative, which is funding via the European Regional Development Fund new innovative solutions to address urban challenges.
