The ERDF is helping Estonian companies become more productive and competitive by means of a project to encourage greater use of digital technologies in their processes.

Although Estonia’s public sector is a front-runner in the use of e-services – the country was ranked seventh in the Digital Economy and Society Index 2020 – digitalisation in the private sector is lagging behind.

As a result, economic growth agency Enterprise Estonia is conducting digital audits on companies and giving them support to make changes. The ERDF is co-funding activities to raise awareness about the initiative.

Packaging company Nefab took advantage of this project and identified where these changes would bring benefits. It decided to automate the processing and transfer of data in its supply chain and thereby improved its quality management.

This enables it to respond more quickly to changes in production and thus plan ahead more effectively. In future, it intends to be digitally linked to its customers’ supply chains to better respond to their needs.
