Smart Regions: better connecting the Cyclades Islands is good for the environment and tourism
The Cyclades islands in Greece have dropped diesel electricity generators for direct connection to the cleaner and safer electricity grid of mainland Greece. It’s a multi-million euros project, supported by EU cohesion policy, that will benefit the environment and the touristic sector.
The Islands will not suffer any more from frequent power cuts that have caused serious problems for businesses and residents. Now this Greek archipelago is benefiting from a more stable energy supply, thanks to "Cyclades Interconnection", a European project that will also connect the islands with each other.
