Engaging schools in monitoring EU-funded projects
The Commission has launched a call for expression of interest to support the replication in up to 5 Member States of “Open Cohesion School”, a project promoting the engagement of students in monitoring EU cohesion policy investments via the use of public open data. The action aims at fostering the culture of active citizenship and raising awareness of Cohesion Policy among schools’ students. It consists in a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) and a contest through which students will present the findings of their research on one or more EU-funded projects in their area. For a pilot phase, approximately 5-7 classes for each Member State are expected to participate. The call is open to central coordination bodies for EU funds, Managing Authorities, intermediate bodies and joint secretariat of national or regional operational programmes co-financed by the ERDF and/or the Cohesion Fund. The Commission will support the participating authorities through ad hoc training and by providing the learning modules.
