State aid in the management of the ESI Funds

Thematic seminars - State Aid for SMEs

Date: Thursday 22 September 2016 09:00-17:00

Venue: Hotel Crowne Plaza Brussels, Rue Gineste 3, 1210 Brussels (metro Rogier)

All Member States plan to invest ESIF in projects supporting enterprises and particularly SMEs. These investments need to be compatible with the internal market rules and should not distort competition. However, state aid issues are frequently raised by the managing authorities as a problem for the conception of their support schemes.

Taking into account this background, the European Commission has taken the initiative to assist colleagues from national authorities on state aid issues. As a practical contribution, the European Commission services are organising a seminar on Regional Aid and State Aid for SMEs, taking place in Brussels on September 22nd, 2016.

The seminar is dedicated to practitioners involved in management of the European Structural Investment Funds with the aim to provide them with concrete and practical examples on how to deal with regional investment aid, and SME aid for investment, and for consultancy. The seminar will be interactive and hands-on, dealing with concrete cases and exchanging good practices nad lessons learnt in order to provie pragmatic ideas and solutions.
