Programme description

Main objectives 

The multifunds programme aims at achieving the objectives of the "Europe 2020" strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. Through the combination of ERDF and ESF in one programme and through the joint strategic approach aiming at improving the developments in the region synergies and efficiency should be reached more effectively. This regionalized and integrated approach will help addressing the needs and potentials of the region to generate growth and employment. In the framework of the Regional Strategy for Smart Specialisation a knowledge and innovation-based economy should be fostered. The ESF qualification and integration measures shall create employment perspectives, opportunities for people's inclusion, reduce poverty risks and enlarge the number of skilled labour. Climate change and a sustainable and energy efficient development are integral parts of the operational programme.

Expected results

  • Support the innovation activities of 1,100 companies and 45 universities and research institutions
  • Creation of 1,050 new companies
  • Investments in and by around 1,500 existing SMEs
  • Reduction of CO2 emissions by 23,900 t CO2 equivalent and preventing another 1 million tonnes CO2 equivalent
  • 5.250 new jobs in SMEs
  • 14,850 people to achieve certified qualifications
  • 432,000 participants in courses and trainings
  • some 12 950 jobseekers or inactive people to find work
