Programme description

Main objectives

The ERDF-ESF Programme "Corsica" aims to boost economic growth in this region and contributes to achieving at regional level the Europe 2020 targets for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. It should create jobs and boost productivity, particularly in SMEs. About 27% of the budget will be allocated to the adaptation to climate change and more than 13% of the ERDF budget will be allocated to urban areas.

Funding priorities

The Programme will focus on following main priorities:

  • Increase research and innovation in RIS3 (smart specialisation strategy) sectors
  • Strengthen very high speed network deployment and access to ICTs for SMEs, public administration, health services and education
  • Improve the creation of SMEs and their competitiveness
  • Enhance renewable energy production, energy efficiency in housing and tertiary buildings and sustainable multimodal mobility
  • Improve natural risk management
  • Preserve cultural and natural heritage
  • Improve living conditions in urban areas
  • Increase employment by promoting long life learning

Expected impacts

  • Increase the rate of searchers in the specific action sectors from 27% in 2012 to 50% in 2023
  • Increase in the average number of enterprises' creation from 2045 in 2012 to 2200 in 2023
  • Increase up to 65% in the number of households connected to very high speed network outside areas managed by private operators
  • Reduce GHG emissions from public buildings and housing by 500 teq CO2
  • Increase in the production of renewable energies with additional 229 GWh
  • increase in the energy efficiency in housing for the benefit of 400 households
  • Increase in the rate of population concerned by a local strategy for flood risk management from 8 to 16%
  • increase in the annual number of visitors of the cultural and natural heritage by 8000
  • Increase in the number of people living in the urban areas and benefiting from integrated strategies by 11 750
  • Increase in the number of trained people obtaining a qualification at the end of the training courses by 4288
