Circular Ocean Final Seminar

Funded under the ERDF Interreg VB Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA) Programme, Circular Ocean was established to seek opportunities for recovery and reuse of waste Fishing Nets & Rope in the region, with a view to benefiting local economies. The project has undertaken various streams of research, seeking opportunities to support SME’s and generally promote awareness of the opportunities and challenges associated with waste fishing gear. The half day morning event will bring together key experts in the area of marine plastic pollution, along with Circular Ocean project partners from the Environmental Research Institute (Scotland), The Centre for Sustainable Design (England), Norwegian University of Science & Technology (Norway) and The Arctic Technology Centre (Greenland) to explore the challenge of ocean plastics, with a particular emphasis on the potential solutions for re-purposing waste Fishing Nets & Rope. We are delighted to confirm the critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, columnist, broadcaster and Clean Coasts advocate Colm O’Regan will also join us as MC for the event.
