ROP Calabria ERDF ESF

Programme description

Main objectives

The programme aims to create growth and jobs by boosting innovation and competitiveness, and improving the regional system of R&D. It shares the objectives defined by the Europe 2020 strategy for a smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The programme will contribute to improve the energy efficiency, boost the ultra-broadband penetration and preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the region.

The programme will also contribute to promoting Calabria’s ability to achieve the key EU and national development priorities in the field of employment and social inclusion by intervening on employment, education and training in a reinforced social dimension.

Funding priorities

The programme will focus on 11 main priorities:

  • Promoting research innovation > EUR 210 million
  • Development of the digital agenda > EUR 168 million
  • Competitiveness of the productive systems > EUR 186 million
  • Energy efficiency > EUR 486 million
  • Risk prevention > EUR 93 million
  • Protection and enhancement of environmental and cultural heritage > EUR 324 million
  • Developing the sustainable mobility network > EUR 223 million
  • Promoting sustainable and quality employment > EUR 168 million
  • Social Inclusion > EUR 215 million
  • Education and Training > EUR 231 million
  • Administrative capacity > 16 million

    Expected impacts

    • Promote 470 collaboration schemes between enterprises and research institutions;
    • Support more than 2000 enterprises;
    • Reduction of CO2 equivalent emission for ton. 60.615;
    • 350.000 homes will have the access to the broadband of at least 100 Mbps;
    • 160.000 additional tons of waste recycled;
    • 200.000 people will benefit from a better water service;
    • 40.000 people will benefit of measures to prevent the flood risk;
    • Offering work opportunities for more than 10000 people (ESF)
    • Offering work opportunities for more than 9500 young people (ESF)
    • Offering opportunities to access tertiary and equivalent education to more than 11.000 disadvantaged people (ESF) 
    • Increase the efficiency of the Public administration through training of more than 500 employees (ESF)
