Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness

Programme description

Main objectives

The Operational Programme (OP) will substantially contribute to promoting the country´s ability to achieve a competitive and sustainable economy based on knowledge and innovation by concentrating on the following thematic objectives (TOs): 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7.

The programme will focus on enhancing innovation and the competitiveness of enterprises in order to increase their added value, stimulate growth and job creation and improve the performance of the research and innovation (R&I) systems, including increased private investments in R&I. It will be one of the main implementation tools to achieve the objectives of the Smart Specialisation Strategy.

Funding priorities

The Programme will focus on four main priorities:

  • Development of research and innovation
  • Development of entrepreneurship and SMEs competitiveness
  • Energy and resource efficiency in SMEs and support of low carbon technologies
  • Development of high speed internet networks and sophisticated ICT services

Expected impacts

  • Support to more than 1,970 enterprises through grants under TO1
  • Create 12,000 new jobs in enteprises supported under TO3
  • Mobilise 600 new applications for protection of intellectual property rights
  • Annual decrease in greenhouse gas emissions of 300,000 tons CO2
  • Create 50 of new or modernised innovation infrastructures
  • Increase innovative low carbon technologies
