"Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation" Work Programme 2016-2017 preparation

The two-year work programme was published on 14 October 2015 and contains funding opportunities for participants from those "Widening" countries with low performance in research and innovation in Europe. The work programme includes calls for proposals for Teaming (creating Centres of Excellence through partnerships), ERA Chairs (bringing excellence to institutions) and Twinning (institutional networking.

In terms of preparation, consulting stakeholders has been an integral part of the programming process that took place throughout 2014 and in the first half of 2015. For the development of the Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation Work Programme 2016-17 the European Commission particularly considered the following inputs:

The opinion of the H2020 Advisory Group on Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation and in particular its final report published on the 2nd July 2014.

Additionally, the Commission drew advice from external stakeholders through a dedicated lunch debate that took place on the 2nd July 2014. Wide participation of stakeholders in this debate was ensured ranging from representatives of universities, business and region associations, clusters, think tanks, research centres and technology organisations.
