PLEASED project: Monitoring the environment with talking plants

Friday, 7 November, 2014

Plants are able to sense different parameters like the gravitational field, electrical fields or chemicals gradients. This huge amount of information could be made intelligible for surprising purposes.

Plants communicate using their own language, made up of electrical signals, they send messages to other plants and to the environment. In Florence, researchers at the FET-Open project PLEASED, are analyzing this electrical activity to decode in order to use for purposes like enviromental monitoring.
