Title: Anonymous Extraordinaries / Notáveis Anónimos
Summary
Our program aims to identify and honour the people who take care of our city, distinguishing itself anonymously by its examples and capabilities. We intend to distinguish them, by presenting their examples, creating an intercultural and social dialogue, where we intend to pass the message through living examples. Our intention is to invite young Europeans to join in this dialogue by sharing with them our experiences and points of view, while at the same time, learn about their examples and allowing them to enrich us with their perspectives and opinions. In addition, we plan to create personal growth sessions and individual enrichment, leading each participant to find the "remarkable" that exists in them.We believe that in society everyone can (and should) have an active role, and that citizenship can take several forms and ways. Many who contribute to the welfare of a community on a daily basis, are the ones most often overlooked. A group of people, from young to old, unbeknownst to many, are the core of the engine that keeps the community running. With our program, we aim to pass the message to every single participant that they too are an important member of their community, that they can do a difference and that their opinions and matters can be heard. Throughout the duration of the program, the participants will discuss what it means to live in a community and in what ways one can contribute to a more participative and transparent society.We don’t think there is a single “recipe” to engage the community, because every community has its peculiarities, even when we talk about democracy, and must respect it as long as the universal democratic values are the same, so what we think is that the best way to achieve more engagement of each community is to promote citizenship through dialogue and activities that promote respect, understanding, open-mindedness and teamwork.
