The Young Talent Architecture Award supports young architecture graduates at the beginning of their career. It also acknowledges the professors and the universities – both public and private – committed to architectural quality as a driving force in support of European economy and culture.

A jury will select 3 Master degree project winners out of 9 finalists; their works will be distinguished for excellence, authenticity, sustainability and innovative nature. The first candidates are from the 2015-16 academic year.

The winners will have the opportunity to make contact with the best European architecture companies that have been involved in the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture over the last 27 years. This will help launching their international careers and getting involved in networks which promote excellence as well as cultural and economic benefits.

The architecture sector is at the heart of Europe's cultural and creative industries. It employs more than half a million people, while more than 12 million work in the construction sector indirectly linked to architecture. The cultural and creative industries represent 4.5% of the EU's GDP.

EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture

The Young Talent Architecture Award is the latest addition to the architecture prize, which also celebrates a winner and an emerging architect winner every other year. The prize highlights the contribution of European architects to the development of new ideas and technologies in contemporary urban development. Launched in 1987 and co-funded by the Creative Europe and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, the €60,000 prize is the most prestigious in European architecture.
