European Heritage Label Ceremony 2016

On 13 April 2016, the nine new European Heritage Label sites were recognised at a ceremony in Brussels, Belgium.


The European Heritage Label goes to cultural heritage sites important to the history of the EU as a whole. European Heritage Label sites are also recognised for highlighting this European context, ensuring access for the public and organising awareness-raising activities.

The new sites join the 20 ones already on the list. Out of 18 candidates, 9 sites were picked, coming from 9 different countries:

The event was held at Solvay Library, 137 Rue Belliard, in Parc Léopold in Brussels.

Tibor Navracsics , the European Commissioner responsible for culture, was in attendence along with politicians from across Europe, heritage experts and stakeholders.
