Shaping European Cities exhibition opening event 15 September

The exibition held in Brussels, Belgium showcased the winners of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2015. The launch event of the exhibition consisted of a series of talks and debates on architecture and urban renewal.

Programme

Shaping European cities aimed to strengthen the dialogue between policymakers, architects and the general public about the role of quality architecture in regenerating European cities, and open up new paths for collaboration.

The format was a series of short and high-impact talks followed by debates.

  • Normunds Popens - Deputy Director General for Implementation, European Commission, Directorate-General Regional & Urban Policy
  • Anna Lisa Boni - Secretary General of Eurocities
  • Helle Søholt - Gehl architects
  • Diébédo Francis Kéré - Kéré architecture
  • Paola Viganò - Studio Secchi Viganò
  • Belinda Tato - Ecosistema Urbano

The exhibition brought together models, photos and video material about the 40 most remarkable architecture projects built in Europe in the last 2 years. Including:

The event and the exhibition are organised by the European Commission, together with the Mies van der Rohe Foundation.

Award

The European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture or Mies van der Rohe Award is funded by Creative Europe, the European Union's programme for support to the culture and audiovisual sectors.
