Second European Conference on Architecture & the Media
- Monday, 11 May, 2020 to Thursday, 14 May, 2020
With the support of Creative Europe, Fundació Mies van der Rohe is organising the second European Conference on Architecture & the Media on 11-14 May. The online event will gather outstanding professionals to discuss the dissemination of architecture through the power of the media.
The second European Conference on Architecture & the Media will afford a unique opportunity to exchange experiences on architecture perceived as culture, and on dissemination of both core values and the most cutting-edge topics through the media: print, broadcast and online, general-interest or specialised media.
The event will focus on television, radio and audiovisual media and will deepen the crosscutting subject of architectural images.
It will answer such questions as:
- What makes architecture alluring for the media?
- Why is it such a challenge for architecture to gain visibility in the cultural section of news media?
- How significant is the role of the media in making architecture understood and appreciated by broader audiences?
These and other important questions regarding the relation of architecture and media will be discussed by renowned experts such as Oliver Wainwright (architecture and design critic of The Guardian) and Iwan Baan (photographer, Rotterdam).
Organised during the Barcelona Architecture Week 2020, the conference will take place online on the YouTube channel of Fundació Mies van der Rohe.
Architecture & the Media is organised by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe with the support of Creative Europe as part of the dissemination programme of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award. The curator of the event is Miriam Giordano, communication consultant and director of Labóh communication agency.
