First European Conference on Architecture & the Media
- 10 months 2 weeks ago
Fundació Mies van der Rohe is organising the first European Conference on Architecture & the Media on 14 and 15 May 2018 in Barcelona with support of the Creative Europe programme.
The first European Conference on Architecture & the Media will offer a unique opportunity for people to come together and exchange experiences. The focus will be on the dissemination of architecture, perceived as culture through the media. Media here can be understood both as general-interest press and specialized press, printed and online.
Journalists, communication professionals, architects as well as architecture lovers, cultural institutions and organisations are welcome to discuss and learn more about how the media can have an impact on making architecture visible and appreciated by broader audiences.
Architecture & the Media is organised by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe with the support of the Creative Europe programme. It is part of the dissemination programme of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award. The curators of the event are Miriam Giordano, communication consultant and director of Labóh communication agency – and Ewa P. Porębska, architect and editor in chief of Arkitektura-Murator.
The conference is happening during the Barcelona Architecture Week 2018, in the Barcelona Pavilion, the emblematic work of modern architecture designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich. This jewel of Barcelona's cultural and architectural heritage can be regarded as the symbol and the inspirational source of the two-day event.
Participants can attend talks and roundtables, debates, a workshop and help answer the question how it would be possible to attract more attention to architecture through the power of the media. Or to reverse the perspective: What could make architecture more alluring to the media?
