2018 European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage awards ceremony

As one of the key events of the European Year for Cultural Heritage, the winners of the 2018 EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards will be celebrated on 22 June during a high-profile awards ceremony in Berlin.

Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and Maestro Plácido Domingo, President of Europa Nostra, will co-host this highly prestigious event In the presence of the Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier,

Awards will be presented to the 29 winners, coming from 17 different countries taking part in the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

During the ceremony, the seven Grand Prix laureates and the winner of the Public Choice Award will be announced, chosen from among this year’s winning achievements in the categories of conservation, research, dedicated service and education, training and awareness-raising. 

The event will be attended by some 1,000 people, ranging from high-level officials from EU Institutions and Member States to leading representatives of heritage organisations from all over Europe.

This year’s ceremony will be special as it will be one of the highlights of the first European Cultural Heritage Summit, one of the key European events of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, which is taking place in Berlin from 18-24 June.

The Excellence Fair, during which the winners will present their achievements, will take place on 21 June at the Allianz Forum in Berlin.
