The Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine associates its degree program closely with the Biocenter Oulu Doctoral Programme (BCO-DP) which has continuously been ranked high by external evaluators since 1995. Our DP operates as one of the doctoral programmes of the University of Oulu Graduate School, UniOGS. The DP gives postgraduate education in cell and molecular biology, developmental biology, molecular medicine, molecular genetics, population genetics, structural biology, bioinformatics, biobusiness and bioethics. The DP actively promotes international mobility by supporting research visits of the PhD students and by its international Joint PhD Programme with the International Graduate School in Molecular Medicine Ulm. The PhD studies are determined by a personal study plan as well as writing and publicly defending a doctoral dissertation. An intermediate degree of Licentiate of Philosophy (PhL) is also possible. All education is given in English. After completion the DP's high-level education in the above-mentioned areas, the graduates are competitive researchers and experts in Finland and abroad. ...
