    The Master Programme in Physics is developed in coordination with research groups at Uppsala University. The tutors are active researchers and the courses are linked to the frontline of physics research. During the programme's first three terms, you may choose from a range of advanced physics courses, thus providing a specialisation in one field of physics. You may also choose courses from other areas (of physics and of related fields of study) in order to create an individual profile for your Master's degree. The programme is concluded with a 5-month degree project, where you work with an individual research pro­ject in cooperation with a research group at a university, in industry or at a public authority. The open structure of the programme provides you with many opportunities to broaden the educational scope and to specialise in your particular area of interest. The programme consists of eight specialisations and one profile: Astronomy and Space Physics Energy Physics Geophysics Materials Physics Materials Theory Meteorology Nuclear and Particle Physics Physics Didactics (profile to be combined with one of the specialisations) Theoretical Physics - Quantum Fields and Strings The principal language of instruction is English.     The Master Programme in Earth Science will enable you to learn about the interdependency of Earth Systems and gain advanced skills in specific areas within Earth Sciences. Explore climate change from the perspectives of Earth processes occurring in the atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, lithosphere and biosphere. Find a balance between using and preserving Earth’s resources and reducing the environmental impact for a healthy sustainable future. The combination of breadth and depth is a distinguishing feature of our Master Programme in Earth Science. This reflects the scientific profile of the department, which focuses on research into climate, development of life, natural hazards, natural resources, energy and sustainable development. There are six specialisations: Geology Hydrology/Hydrogeology Paleobiology European Paleobiology Specialisation (Uppsala-Lille) Physical Geography Sustainable and Innovative Natural Resource Management (SINReM) European Paleobiology commences in Université Lille 1, France and SINReM at the University of Ghent, Belgium.     Geovetenskap handlar om Jorden, den mest dynamiska planeten i vårt solsystem. Jordens inre och yttre processer har gett förutsättningar för liv, format vår miljö och skapat många av våra viktigaste naturresurser. Med en examen från kandidatprogrammet i geovetenskap kan du göra värdefulla insatser inom områden som rör naturresurser, miljö och samhällsbyggande. Kandidatprogrammet i geovetenskap ger dig en bred bas i geovetenskap som byggs på med kärnkurser inom områdena berg, mark, landskapsutveckling, vatten och livets utveckling samt specialiserade kurser i geofysik, geoteknik och geoinformatik. Du läser även kurser inom kemi och matematik anpassade för geovetare. Dina lärare är forskare vid institutionen för geovetenskaper i Uppsala. I utbildningen blandas teori med praktiska moment.     Fysikens syfte är att ge en grundläggande kvantitativ förståelse av naturens lagar. Den behandlar stora frågor som atomkärnornas uppbyggnad, nya material för till exempel solceller, jordens klimatutveckling och universums uppkomst. Kandidatprogrammet i fysik vid Uppsala universitet erbjuder möjligheten att studera olika områden inom den moderna teoretiska och experimentella fysiken. Under de inledande studierna lär du dig grundläggande fysikaliska begrepp och samband. Inledande kurser inom matematik ger dig de matematiska verktyg som krävs för en exakt beskrivning av fysikaliska processer. Under det tredje året på utbildningen specialiserar du dig inom en av de fyra inriktningarna astronomi, fysik, geofysik eller meteorologi.
