    Umwelt- und Bioressourcenmanagement untersucht und löst komplexer Problemstellungen im Spannungsfeld zwischen natürlichen Systemen und menschlichen Handlungsweisen. Im Rahmen des Masterstudiums sind die drei Pflichtmodule „Methodische Grundlagen und Werkzeuge“, „Sozioökonomische Grundlagen“ und Interdisziplinäre Seminare zu absolvieren. Daneben stehen die sechs Wachfachmodule „Integrale Landnutzung“, „Wassermanagement“, „Abfall- und Kreislaufwirtschaft“, „Erneuerbare Energien“, „Ländliche Entwicklung“ sowie „Management atmosphärischer Ressourcen“ zur Spezialisierung der angehenden ExpertInnen des Bio- und Ressourcenmanagements zur Auswahl. Die Betreuung der Studierenden bei der Masterarbeit erfolgt durch jene Universitätslehrende, die das Thema vorgeschlagen haben.     In Austria the field of forestry includes knowledge and professional competence regarding all functions of a forest. This includes both economic use and protective functions (conservation of species, water protection, soil protection, climate) and the welfare and recreational function. The aim is the best possible protection of the natural resources. The first few modules which students have to study contain general compulsory courses such as “Research Methodology“, “Ethical Approach to Forestry” and “Academic English in Forest Science“. One module requires a stay at a forestry institution, another one a field study. These mainly serve to give students an insight into practical application of the knowledge gained and to illustrate the different approaches in the different European countries.     Objectives of a study programme: The aim of the study Programme is to equip the masters of forestry science with the fundamentals of methodological and systematic thinking, the knowledge of contemporary forestry technologies and forestry science theories and methods.     In Österreich umfasst das Gebiet der Forstwissenschaft Wissen und Handlungskompetenz bezüglich aller Funktionen des Waldes. Dazu gehören sowohl die ökonomische Nutzung, als auch Schutzfunktionen (Arten-, Wasser-, Boden-, Klima) und die Wohlfahrts- und Erholungsfunktion. Dabei folgt es stets dem Ziel der größtmöglichen Schonung der natürlichen Ressourcen. Im Rahmen des Studiums sind Lehrveranstaltungen aus den Pflichtmodulen Waldökosystemanalyse, Waldressourcenbewirtschaftung, Management und Politik sowie ein Masterseminar zu absolvieren.
