    Študij traja 3 leta in obsega 180 kreditnih točk po ECTS. Namenjen je študentom, ki si želijo ustvariti zalogo znanja na področju lastnosti sodobnih materialov in karakterizacijskih metod, ki omogočajo pridobivanje informacije o elektronskih, strukturnih in kemijskih lastnostih materialov na nivoju atomske in molekularne fizike in numeričnih metod za modeliranje procesov, ki uravnavajo fazne prehode v materialih in fizike visokih energij, ki se navezuje na sodobno kozmologijo in astrofiziko osnovnih delcev.   2. Znanost in inženirstvo materialov (Materials Science and Engineering)

    Študij traja 3 leta in obsega 180 kreditnih točk po ECTS. Interdisciplinarni doktorski študijski program izvajajo Naravoslovnotehniška fakulteta v sodelovanju s Fakulteto za kemijo in kemijsko tehnologijo in Fakulteto za matematiko in fiziko.     Interdisciplinarni doktorski študijski program Materiali povezuje ekspertna znanja iz fizike, kemije, kemijskega inženirstva in teoretične kemije. Namenjen je študentom, ki želijo pridobiti vrhunske raziskovalne kompetence in znanja na področjih razvoja različnih novih vrst funkcionalnih materialov. Študij je zasnovan celostno, od sinteze in karakterizacije materialov, razumevanje odnosa med strukturo, lastnostmi materiala in njegovim delovanjem, do razvoja materiala na industrijsko skalo. Posebna pozornost je pri študiju namenjena razvoju novih materialov za uporabno v energijskih in okoljskih tehnologijah za potrebe industrijskega razvoja.     The goal of Physics, Astronomy and Mechanics Doctoral Study Programme is to ensure obtaining the of the scientific qualification in the following scientific sub-sectors of physics, astronomy or mechanics: Solid state physics, Didactics of physics, Physics of condensed environment, Chemical physics, Laser physics and spectroscopy, Materials’ physics, Medical physics, Atomic and molecular physics Optics, Semiconductor physics, Thermal physics and molecular physics, Fluid and gas mechanics, Theoretical physics, Astronomy and fundamental astrophysics, Mechanics of polymers and composites Depending on the sub-sector chosen for the studies, the PhD student must demonstrate a high level of theoretical and practical qualification in materials’ and semiconductor physics, physics of condensed environment, topics of polymer mechanics, general conceptions and methodology issues of chemical physics, the general principles of mathematical modelling of irreversible processes in the framework of continuum, fundamentals of atomic and molecular optics, the sub-sector of laser physics and spectroscopy, the physical progresses in live organisms, as well as various sub-sectors of astrophysics and fundamental astronomy, and didactics of physics.   6. Geography- Doctoral studies

    The doctoral programme in geography is the only highest-level study programme in Latvia which allows students to gain independent experience with research and studies, as well as an internationally comparable doctorate in geography. Its necessity from the perspective of Latvia’s state interests is closely linked to the further existence and development of geography as a discipline of science in the country. The aim of the doctoral programme in geography is to train highly qualified specialists who can engage in scholarly work and teach geography. The degree is intended to be fully internationally comparable, allowing graduates to participate in and contribute to international debates and academic fora. The programme has four sub-fields – physical geography, human geography, environmental and regional geography, as well as applied geography and geomatics. The study programme allows each doctoral student to develop as an individual, taking into account the student’s interests, education, experience and achievements.
