    Doctoral education at the University of Lapland is implemented in four doctoral programmes. Three of these programmes are thematic, multidisciplinary doctoral programmes: Communities and changing work, Culture-based service design, and Northern cultures and natural resource politics. The thematic programmes are coordinated by the Graduate School at the University of Lapland. In addition to the thematic programmes, the University of Lapland has the general doctoral programme in which doctoral candidates follow discipline-specific doctoral paths. The content of your studies in the general doctoral programme is based on the faculty’s requirements for doctoral studies. Doctoral candidates of the general programme can, however, take courses offered by the thematic programmes. The doctoral candidate chooses in the application the most suitable doctoral programme: the general or one of the thematic programmes. The faculty grants the study right and degrees.
