The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a translation tool that helps communication and comparison between qualifications systems in Europe. Its eight common European reference levels are described in terms of learning outcomes: knowledge, skills and competences. This allows any national qualifications systems, national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and qualifications in Europe to relate to the EQF levels. Learners, graduates, providers and employers can use these levels to understand and compare qualifications awarded in different countries and by different education and training systems.

  5. Master of Science in de nautische wetenschappen

    De Masters NW hebben op het einde van de opleiding de volgende leerresultaten bereikt: 1. handelen in overeenstemming met de basisvereisten (normen) van de International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) en de ermee verbonden Code, zoals aangepast d.m.v. de Manila Amendments in juni 2010, voor dekofficieren op zeeschepen ; en hiermee voldoen aan de STCW normen op managementniveau; 2. geavanceerde kennis en inzicht hebben met betrekking tot technische aspecten van koopvaardijschepen, o.m. propulsie (gasturbines, sleepweerstand, schroefkarakteristieken, …), inspectie, survey en onderhoud van schepen; 3. geavanceerde aspecten van navigatie beheersen, o.m. gevorderde getijdenanalyse (inclusief kritische benadering van navigatiesoftware), voyage planning, navigatie in drukbevaren vaarwaters en havengebieden (radar/ARPA), navigatie in ijsgebieden; 4. gespecialiseerde kennis, inzicht en vaardigheden hebben in operationele domeinen, bijvoorbeeld manoeuvres in moeilijke en/of bijzondere omstandigheden; maar ook o.m.scheepsexploitatie, supply chain management, zeerecht, van belang voor een tweede carrière na het varen; 5. als expert advies geven in veiligheidsproblematiek, meer bepaald ongevallenanalyse (doorgronden van de inhoud, toepassing en intenties van de International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea); 6. vanuit een grondige kennis en inzicht op het vlak van exacte en toegepaste wetenschappen (automatisatie) op een verantwoordelijke manier omgaan ...
