Erasmus+ Learning Opportunities financed by EU grants

Erasmus+ is the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport for 2014-2020.The Erasmus+ programme aims to boost skills and employability, as well as modernising Education, Training, and Youth work. The seven year programme will have a budget of €14.7 billion; a 40% increase compared to current spending levels, reflecting the EU's commitment to investing in these areas.

The  EU support programme for education, training, youth and sport, Erasmus+,  is jointly managed in Latvia by the State Education Development Agency VIAA and the Agency of International Programmes for Youth.

Citizens from countries which have signed a bilateral agreement with Latvia or offer scholarships for Latvian students can apply for Latvian Government Scholarships (see the link for Signed Agreements).

Scholarships for bachelor`s  and master`s  studies are granted for a time period up to 10 months (for PhD-students – up to 11 months).

In general, the academic year in Latvia lasts from September 1 to June 30.

Tuition language at Latvian higher education institutions is Latvian, but there are a lot of study programmes offered in English (please visit the website: www.studyinlatvia.lv for more information).
