The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a translation tool that helps communication and comparison between qualifications systems in Europe. Its eight common European reference levels are described in terms of learning outcomes: knowledge, skills and competences. This allows any national qualifications systems, national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and qualifications in Europe to relate to the EQF levels. Learners, graduates, providers and employers can use these levels to understand and compare qualifications awarded in different countries and by different education and training systems.

    The learning outcomes for Middle Eastern Studies as a minor subject are: That the student will gain knowledge of the history and the culture of the Middle East, as well as acquiring a basic level of Arabic and an overview of the literature and the anthropology of the region. That the student will be able to make practical use of the Arabic language through oral expression, listening and in writing, and to obtain guidance in academic methods aimed at independent and group work.     The aim of the Diploma in Classical Languages is to enable the students to acquire or strengthen their knowledge of Ancient Greek and Latin in preparation for further studies within the humanities:  – They should acquire knowledge of both Ancient Greek and Latin as well as some insight into the history, culture and civilization of classical antiquity; – They should be able to use their knowledge of the classical languages in order to read classical sources in the original languages.   1. Knowledge and understanding At the successfult completion of the course of study the student has acquired basic knowledge of the classical languages.
