The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a translation tool that helps communication and comparison between qualifications systems in Europe. Its eight common European reference levels are described in terms of learning outcomes: knowledge, skills and competences. This allows any national qualifications systems, national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and qualifications in Europe to relate to the EQF levels. Learners, graduates, providers and employers can use these levels to understand and compare qualifications awarded in different countries and by different education and training systems.

    The aim of the BA course in Latin is for the student to: – gain good knowledge of Latin, an insight into the history, culture, and society of the classical period, as well as an awareness of the unique position held by the Latin language and the classical heritige today; – be able to use his or her knowledge and linguistic competence to read classical sources in the original language; – have fostered independent initiative and good work ethics which will prepare him or her for further study in the field.   1                    Knowledge: at the end of the course the student has acquired knowledge of Roman  studies.     1. Knowledge and understanding 1.1. Students possess knowledge of the fundamentals, theories and concepts of archaeology. 1.2. Students are acquainted with theoretical explanations. 1.3. Students have an understanding of the significance of cultural relics to scholarly discourse and contemporary identity. 1.4.     The learning objectives with the 60 credit diploma in French are:  - Students have mastered the basic concepts, methods and theories in the area of language and culture, economic and national life, history, literature and art. - Students are able to use the language in writing and orally - Students are able to use their knowledge and understanding in scholarly pursuits or in their profession.     Minor focus in Law 60 credit units DefinitionA one-year undergraduate programme of study in law based in theory and research, culminating in the degree of diploma juris at the Faculty of Law, University of Iceland (first cycle, level 1).     The aim with the diploma in Chinese Studies is to give students insight into the language, culture and history of China. Students can use the study for their work or they can get it evaluated into further Chinese Studies at the University of Iceland.  1.
