  2. English and the Second Language Teaching

    Būsimieji anglų ir antrosios užsienio kalbos specialistai studijuoja bendruosius universitetinių studijų dalykus (Filosofiją bei Logiką ir mokslo metodologiją, Retoriką ar Lietuvių kalbą ir redagavimą), studijų krypties dalykus ir laisvai pasirenkamus dalykus. Studijų krypties dalykai sudaro tris pagrindinius studijų blokus: 1) Visuotinės anglų ir antrosios užsienio kalbos studijos (dalykai: Šiuolaikinė anglų kalba, Antroji užsienio kalba, Kalbotyros įvadas, Leksikologija ir leksikografija, Teksto lingvistika ir kt.), 2) Pedagoginių studijų dalykų studijos (dalykai: Edukologija, Užsienio kalbos mokymo metodika, Inovatyvūs užsienio kalbos mokymo metodai, Pedagoginė psichologija, Ugdymo teorijos ir filosofija) 3) Literatūros ir kultūros studijos (dalykai: Literatūros mokslo įvadas, Vakarų literatūra, Šalityra). Būsimieji mokytojai atlieka praktiką nuo pirmųjų studijų metų. Antrojo semestro pabaigoje studentai atlieka Stebimąją praktiką. Ketvirtame ir šeštame semestre studentams skiriama po 162 valandas mokomosios praktikos. Septintajame semestre studentai vyksta į ilgą praktiką, kuriai skiriam 405 val.   3. Lithuanian Comparative Philology

    Objective(s) of a study programme: To prepare Lithuanian philology’s master students - educational and cultural professionals, who are able in a modern Europe context, to demonstrate and promote competencies and continue to develop and apply the ideas of the research context. Learning outcomes: Students will be able to explain the modern conceptual approach to language and cultural problems in the process of historical development; to give new impulses for discussions about Lithuanian identity in Lithuania; to understand philological comparativistics method and use it in theoretical and practical comparative Lithuanian philology scanning; permeated motivation theoretical and practical foundation they will be able to seek for further scientific knowledge – possible (doctoral) studies.     Graduate students of the English linguistics programme study the structure and functioning peculiarities of the English language, get an understanding about similarities and differences between English and Lithuanian and other languages, acquire knowledge about different traditional and modern schools and trends of linguistics. Obligatory subjects include general linguistics, semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, theory of English for specific purposes, language philosophy, cognitive linguistics etc. Optional subjects include psycholinguistics, corpus linguistics, applied linguistics, some more specialised subjects. The programme is completed by publicly defending an MA thesis.
