    You will acquire skills in economic analysis and deeper insights into how the economy works. Some examples of topics analyzed in the programme are: How to organize energy markets to avoid monopolies and market manipulation. How to design and implement an-international climate treaty. How to reduce poverty and manage natural resources in a better way in developing countries. How to analyze consequences of international trade agreements. How to explain why commodity prices are so volatile. Contents of the programme: The masters programme consists of required theory and methods courses and the option to choose a specialization in one or more economic sub-disciplines, e.g., Environmental and Resource Economics; Energy and Climate Economics; Development and Global Change; and Financial and Commodity Market Analysis. Each specialization has a set of required core courses that can be supplemented with electives from organizational science or business management. Alternatively, one can choose a more interdisciplinary profile, by selecting electives from other faculties at NMBU such as in natural sciences, technology or other social sciences to tailor the skills to one¿s particular interests. The completion of the degree culminates with the submission of a thesis and the successful oral defense of the work.   3. Economics- master

    How are resources used in society, and how should they be used? These are the big issues in economics. A Master's degree in Economics provides you with a deeper understanding of theoretical and applied economic analysis, methodology and empirical research. Students will have the opportunity to work independently through self-study and assignments. The programme consists of advanced courses in microeconomics, which also includes the use of linear algebra and static optimization. Macroeconomics includes the analysis of open economies and economic growth. In their first semester students will have a course in econometrics - advanced quantitative methods for economics. In the third semester students can choose between a course in advanced finance and a course in applied microeconomics. In the third semester students will also have to take a course that gives a common basis for working with the Master's thesis, and specializing within the subject field of the thesis.   4. European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations

    In the 21st century, migration processes increasingly contribute to the shaping of societies. The presence of migrants consequently adds emphasis to intercultural relations and communication, which are of key importance for social cohesion. The European Master of Arts in Migration and Intercultural Relations (EMMIR) responds to this trend by providing a state-of-the-art education in theoretical concepts, empirical methods and trans-disciplinary approaches to migration studies.   7. Governance and Entrepreneurship in Northern and Indigenous Areas- master

    GENI is a master's program designed to help students take a leadership role in supporting northern and Indigenous communities with governance and economic development through innovative and entrepreneurial approaches.The program includes two field schools, one in Canada and one in Norway, where students are given the opportunity to explore the environment and meet the community stakeholders who represent the focus of the program. As part of the program, all students will be placed in a brief research internship with a Northern stakeholder. GENI is a joint master's program offered by UiT The Arctic University of Norway and the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. No new students will be admitted for the 2018/2019 academic year. The next admissions deadline is planned for Spring 2019. This master's program provides competence in the fields of governance, consultation and entrepreneurship for northern and indigenous communities.   8. Indigenous Studies- master

    Do you want to take part in shaping and producing solutions to global and local challenges through the study of indigenous issues? UiT is one of the very few universities in the world to offer an international Master's degree programme in comparative indigenous studies. The Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education, in cooperation with the Centre for Sami Studies, offers a two-year full-time Master's Programme in Indigenous Studies (MIS). The programme is interdisciplinary and based on research conducted at UiT The Arctic University of Norway regarding the Sami and other indigenous peoples within the social sciences, humanities and law. The thematic focus of the master's programme is the emergence of the international indigenous movement, the historical experiences and contemporary context that indigenous people experience across the globe. During the two years of studies, students will take courses totalling 120 credits (120 ECTS). Six mandatory courses that are designed to give a broad base, from which the individual student may choose a relevant topic for the master's thesis.     UiA offers two specialisations in MSc Business Administration for international applicants:   Specialisation in Financial Economics:   This specialisation provides the students with the analytical and practical skills to cope with the challenges of an increasingly complex international financial market. Student graduating from this specialisation are able to assess the benefits and risks of financial markets and financial innovations, how the market functions in relation to business financing and ownership, and the relationship between financial markets and economic policy.
