Knowledge, ability and skills
At the conclusion of the program, the student can demonstrate knowledge, skills and ability as stated below:
Knowledge and Understanding:

Natural behaviour of the horse and its perception Innate behaviour and needs of the horse and ways to adjust treatment and facilities to meet them Learning processes of the horse and training methodology Work methods and ways of starting the young horse General training of riding horses e.g. Response to commands, relaxation, dressage, and training of the gaits Methods of evaluating levels of training and making training schedules Training physiology of the horse, e.g. The physical effects of training and methods of evaluating training conditions Hoof care, general horseshoeing, balanced horseshoeing Basic principles of establishing a small company in the field and the management and marketing environment

Type of Knowledge:

Starting the young horse, methodology and the horse’s characteristics General advanced training of a horse Effects of training on stamina and endurance Hoof care and horseshoeing. Management of a horse training facility.

Practical Skills:

To organize the facilities and treatment of a horse in accordance with its needs and well-being. To carry out basic training of a horse in a safe, successful and horse-friendly manner. To evaluate different types of horse e.g. according to character, gait and physical and mental balance, and make appropriate adjustments in work procedures and training methods. To evaluate the training level and condition of a riding horse and formulate appropriate training schedules. To be responsible for all general training of riding horses, e.g. improved response to commands, relaxation, dressage, physical condition, proper form and balance of a horse and training of various gaits. To carry out hoof care and general horseshoeing To manage a horse training facility. e.g. establishment of a company, drawing up a management and marketing plan. To display initiative and independence in training, dressage and management of a horse training facility.

Theoretical Skills:

To use knowledge of biology, behaviour and nature of a horse to ensure its well being and a systematic methodology in horse management, starting the young horse and training.

Communication Skills and Information Literacy:

To organize a communication network within the field. To describe, present and outline issues in connection with horse training and dressage. To work with others on a variety of projects. To make use of numerical and visual data.

Learning Skills:

To gather information and resources in he field, make use of them and make correct reference to sources. To write a source-based essay on a well-defined subject and with findings based on sound argument. To acquire
