    The aim with the diploma in Chinese Studies is to give students insight into the language, culture and history of China. Students can use the study for their work or they can get it evaluated into further Chinese Studies at the University of Iceland.  1. Knowledge: at the end of the studies students 1.1. have acquired command of standard spoken Chinese (Putonghua, Mandarin, Guoyu) and knowledge of simplified written characters (jiantizi) sufficient to pass HSK level 4. 1.2. have acquired broad knowledge of the cultural and social history of China as well as other areas significantly influenced by Chinese culture. 1.3. have acquired knowledge and understanding of one or more specialized areas within Chinese studies (notably history, philosophy, religions, linguistics, literature, cinema, politics, business or economics). 2.
