The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a translation tool that helps communication and comparison between qualifications systems in Europe. Its eight common European reference levels are described in terms of learning outcomes: knowledge, skills and competences. This allows any national qualifications systems, national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and qualifications in Europe to relate to the EQF levels. Learners, graduates, providers and employers can use these levels to understand and compare qualifications awarded in different countries and by different education and training systems.

    The aim of the study programme "Dentistry" is to train qualified dentists possessing knowledge and practical skills for practical work in general dentistry - treat patients with diseases of oral cavity and dental diseases and execute practical and educational activities for the prevention of the above mentioned diseases.     Professional continuing education (residency) aims at ensuring the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills for certification in the speciality in compliance with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia. The planned outcomes are defined according to Cycle Descriptors in Latvian NQF, i.e., relevant to the 7th level of EQF. Knowledge and skills: Upon successful completion of the programme; - graduates will be able to demonstrate deep and wide knowledge and comprehension of medical theory and knowledge in particular medical speciality meeting the requirements of the particular speciality and being able to apply creative thinking during clinical placement and to a certain extent research and demonstrate interdisciplinary competence.   5. Health Sciences Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (LU)

    To study basics of life sciences necessary for mastering the content of pharmacy studies; - to acquire adequate knowledge of medicines and substances used in pharmaceutical industry, regulatory requirements associated with the practice of pharmacy and pharmaceutical research; - to master skills of applying theoretical knowledge and research methods to provide pharmaceutical care; - to work out and defend the Bachelor thesis for the total amount of 10 credit points.
