  5. Master Programme in the Humanities- Theoretical Philosophy

    The Master Programme in the Humanities provides you with the tools needed to better understand today's globalised world of encounters between peoples, cultures and societies. The Master's programme consists of a Master's thesis (45 credits) and mandatory courses within your selected discipline. In addition, you choose your own courses from the wide selection of open elective courses offered at the Faculty of Arts at Uppsala University. If you do the one-year Master's, your degree project makes up for 30 credits. There are also opportunities for broadening your competence through fieldwork (when applicable), or through shorter internships with businesses or public organisations, NGOs or government administration. The programme offers fifteen specialisations in Swedish and seven specialisations in English: (1) Archaeology, (2) Cultural anthropology, (3) Cultural Heritage and Sustainability, (4) Musicology, and (5) Classical Archaeology and Ancient History, (6) Aesthetics, and (7) Philosophy. All specialisations provide you with professional, analytical capacities in general as well as in areas pertinent to you chosen field, and give you a broad basis for pursuing a professional or research career in the field of your major subject. With a focus on theoretical and methodological developments in the humanities, as well as on more practical skills and competences pertinent to professional careers, you will graduate with a Master of Arts, specialising in your chosen discipline. ...

    Vill du förstå såväl det förflutna som vår samtid? Historia innebär studier av hur människor och samhällen har förändrats över tid. Genom att studera bakgrunder, orsaker och effekter av förändringar såväl lokalt, regionalt som globalt får du perspektiv på ekonomiska, politiska och sociala system. På Historikerprogrammet analyseras även kultur, ideologi och vetenskap i sina historiska sammanhang. Stor vikt läggs vid förklaringar av historiska processer, samt hur uppdelningar av människor i sociala klasser, kön och andra grupper skapats och omskapats genom tiderna. Historiska perspektiv ger möjlighet att analysera sådant som vi idag betraktar som givet. Utbildningen i Uppsala är ett samarbete mellan ämnena historia, ekonomisk historia och idéhistoria. Programmet är en studieintensiv och snabb väg till högre studier. Introduktionsterminen ger behörighet till fortsättningskursen i alla tre ämnena. Programmet leder till en filosofie kandidatexamen med ekonomisk historia, historia eller idé- och lärdomshistoria som huvudområd Karriär: Du får en rad färdigheter av betydelse för historikeryrken och för arbetslivet i allmänhet.     Kultur- och medieproduktion för samhällsvetare och humanister Är du humanist eller samhällsvetare och vill lära dig att kommunicera med digitala och interaktiva medier? Vill du lära dig att arbeta i projekt, samverka med andra aktörer och sprida din ämneskunskap till en bred publik? Vill du lära dig att berätta med video, podcast och utställningar? Då är detta ett program för dig. Utbildningen ger en masterexamen i ditt huvudområde. Du fördjupar dig inom ditt ämne med en akademisk uppsats och samtidigt får du göra en medieproduktion som knyter an till uppsatsämnet. För att göra din medieproduktion får du hjälp av lärare som själva är konstnärer, radioproducenter och filmare. I utbildningsmiljön har du tillgång till bland annat ljudstudio, ateljé och filmutrustning för att genomföra ditt arbete. Specialisering inom ditt ämnesområde tillsammans med färdigheter i medieproduktion ger en unik kombination och en stark profil. Det finns ett stort behov av humanister och samhällsvetare som kan utföra gestaltande och kommunikativa uppdrag inom till exempel statliga myndigheter, kommuner, landsting, mediebolag, kyrkor och samfund, hjälp- och frivilligorganisationer, arkiv och konsthallar.
