At the end of the 1st cycle, Materials Engineering graduates will have gained knowledge of the structures of materials, their properties, the relationship between the two and how to proceed to manufacture products. This provides an adequate basis for carrying out functions related to the actual production of objects (ceramic, metallic, polymeric and composite objects). The degree programme in materials engineering at Aveiro University is based upon three pillars, namely: structures-properties-processing.While the 1st cycle degree programme provides the basic competences and skills for the training of a Materials Engineer, it is characterised by a curricular flexibility which allows students to continue their studies at the 2nd cycle level with specialisations corresponding to a Masters Degree in Materials Engineering or in Ceramics and Glass Engineering. Although study programmes are taught in Portuguese, teaching staff will be able to provide tutorial-type support in English and will provide English language recommended lists. ...
