  1. Doctoral Degree Programme in Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (4 yrs)

    The Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine associates its degree program closely with the Biocenter Oulu Doctoral Programme (BCO-DP) which has continuously been ranked high by external evaluators since 1995. Our DP operates as one of the doctoral programmes of the University of Oulu Graduate School, UniOGS. The DP gives postgraduate education in cell and molecular biology, developmental biology, molecular medicine, molecular genetics, population genetics, structural biology, bioinformatics, biobusiness and bioethics. The DP actively promotes international mobility by supporting research visits of the PhD students and by its international Joint PhD Programme with the International Graduate School in Molecular Medicine Ulm. The PhD studies are determined by a personal study plan as well as writing and publicly defending a doctoral dissertation. An intermediate degree of Licentiate of Philosophy (PhL) is also possible. All education is given in English. After completion the DP's high-level education in the above-mentioned areas, the graduates are competitive researchers and experts in Finland and abroad. ...

    Doctoral Programme in Biomedicine and Biotechnology Doctoral program in biomedicine and biotechnology is a uniquely multidisciplinary doctoral program which focuses on molecular biology, biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics, cell biology, tissue technology, medical technology, biosensor technology and systems biology.     The aim of this doctoral programme is to prepare students for operations in the specialised fields of information and interactive media research. Research in Information studies focuses on the ways in which information is acquired, managed and used under different circumstances, and the organisation, mediation and storage of information. Studies develop concepts, methods and systems that enable information to be easily accessible and understandable to those who need it. The key research areas are information retrieval, information and media practices, and information and records management. The key areas of research in interactive media are the analysis of media change and its possibilities, the questions of new media design and implementation, the cultures of use, and interactive media as part of society. Internet research, game studies, research into an open information society and questions on the research and design of social media services are also priorities in the field of interactive media.
