History of the Baltic States

Course Information

Future historians of Baltic countries study: cultural anthropology, Baltic region during Russian national policy of the 19th century, historical problems of 16–20th century Eastern and Western Prussia, society and confessional processes of 15–16th century Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Lithuanian–Russian relations from 1918–1940, relations of Lithuanians and Germans in 19–20th centuries, nationalism and modern society of Middle East Europe and Baltic regions in 19–21st centuries, Jewish history in the Baltic and Middle East Europe, the problem of nationalism in German history, management of cultural heritage, archeology, Baltic society in 6–13th centuries, innovation strategies, etc.
Practical training is not envisaged.
The study programme for Baltic history is intended for persons who have a bachelor’s degree and wish to become historians of Baltic countries.
