    Musiikkikasvatuksen aineryhmässä koulutuksen ytimessä ovat musiikillinen yleissivistys, musiikinopetuksessa tarvittavien opetettavien aineiden hallinta ja pedagoginen harjaantuneisuus. Opiskeltavia aineita ovat mm. pedagogiikka, didaktiikka, musiikkiliikunta, eri maiden musiikkikulttuurit, historia, teoria, vapaa säestys, instrumentti- ja lauluopinnot, bändisoitto ja kuoron- ja orkesterinjohto. Opintojen etenemistä tukee tehokas opinto-ohjaajista, tutoropettajista ja -opiskelijoista koostuva tutorjärjestelmä. Kontaktit kouluihin ja muihin tuleviin työnantajiin ovat tiiviit jo opiskeluvaiheessa. Opiskelijat suorittavat opintojensa aikana muun muassa kolme harjoittelujaksoa kouluissa, joissa he pääsevät käytännössä harjoittelemaan ja hiomaan didaktisia taitojaan.  Musiikin maisterin tutkinnon suorittaneet musiikkikasvattajat voivat toimia peruskoulun ja lukion musiikin aineenopettajan tehtävissä ja lukuisissa muissa musiikkipedagogista asiantuntemusta vaativissa tehtävissä.   2. Nordic Master of Global Music (GLOMAS), Master of Music (2.5 yr)

    The Nordic Master of Global Music (GLOMAS) is a 2.5-year Nordic master’s programme in global music. It is a joint study programme between the Sibelius Academy (Finland) and the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus (Denmark). GLOMAS is an innovative, interdisciplinary study programme. It offers students the unique opportunity to study and deepen and develop their artistry and technical proficiency at their home university and on joint courses in the Nordic countries and by, for instance, doing fieldwork. Graduates will be prepared for professional work all over the world. The courses are held in English, and the main aim of the programme is to develop musicians’ skills to combine performance and research practices from different music cultures and to offer tools for multicultural music pedagogy. The aim of the programme is to respond to new needs arising from globalization in the field of music. It covers topics relevant to the career of today’s professional musician, including such areas as project management, musical leadership, and applied research. The programme will also offer opportunities for fieldwork via partner institutions in Africa and elsewhere.     Church music studies are available in Helsinki and in Kuopio. Church music graduates are highly skilled musicians, instructors, and researchers of their field. They are part of the everyday life of Finns: they are versatile and, often at smaller localities, the only professionals of music.   4. Classical Music Performance / Voice, Bachelor and Master of Music (3 yr + 2.5 yr)

    Classical vocal main subject studies aim at giving you a professional-level ability in vocal skills, artistic capability and musical understanding. Music and drama studies are a part of the education on all levels. You will have the opportunity to participate immediately in different opera productions and concerts arranged in the Helsinki Music Centre’s concert halls, the Sibelius Academy’s own premises and in the metropolitan area churches. You can focus on vocal arts, opera singing or collaborative piano in the Master phase of your studies. All students are given the opportunity for international networking through student exchange and different types of travel and collaboration projects as soon they begin their studies. The department collaborates with several international education units and participates in, for instance, the Nordic and Baltic Opera University biennale.     The aim is to give students a broad introduction to music theory and music in general, as well as to provide them with practical composing skills or scientific competence. Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to carry out tasks that require artistic creativity or special expertise in music and to fulfil the demanding role of a music pedagogue. The aim of the study is a comprehensive knowledge of music theory and history. The possession of this knowledge provides a base for music education from which it is possible to seek out the new, break barriers, reform traditions, and expand one's image of the world. In the Composition programme, the aim is to make students conscious of the composition process by introducing them to historical models and by combining analysis with personal work. It is important to find a balance between technique and expression. You will focus on improving your personal compositional skills, which will be supported by harmony and music analysis courses and composition projects. You will develop control and awareness of your creative process. As a Music Theory main subject student, you will acquaint yourself with tonal and post-tonal music analysis methods and deepen your understanding of music history by practising score writing based on historical knowledge.   10. Energia- ja informaatiotekniikka, diplomi-insinööri (2v)

    Tekniikan koulutuksessamme painottuvat ympäristöystävällinen energiatekniikka, kansainvälisyys, liiketoimintaosaaminen, älykkäiden tietojenkäsittelytekniikoiden soveltaminen ja tietokonemallintamiseen liittyvät menetelmät. Sähkötekniikan opinnot kattavat sähkön tuotannon (hajautettu tuotanto ja uusiutuvat energialähteet), älykkäät sähköverkot (sähkönjakelutekniikka, sähköjärjestelmien suojaus ja sähköverkkojen tietoliikenne) sekä tehoelektroniikan sovellukset (sähkökonekäytöt, taajuusmuuttajat, muut tehoelektroniikkalaitteet). Energiatekniikka kouluttaa asiantuntijoita varmistamaan, että taloudellisesti tuotettua energiaa on luotettavasti ja edullisesti saatavilla. Energiaa on tuotettava ja käytettävä ympäristöhaitat minimoiden. Energiatekniikan syventymiskohteita ovat polttomoottorit ja niihin perustuva energiantuotanto, pako- ja savukaasujen puhdistustekniikat sekä uusiutuvat polttoaineet ja energialähteet. Automaatio ja tietotekniikka tuovat energiajärjestelmien laitteisiin ja järjestelmiin älyä, jotta ne toimivat taloudellisesti, luotettavasti ja mahdollisimman itsenäisesti. Tietoliikenteen avulla laitteet kommunikoivat keskenään. Tietoliikenteen avulla mahdollistetaan myös järjestelmien etähallinta.
