The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a translation tool that helps communication and comparison between qualifications systems in Europe. Its eight common European reference levels are described in terms of learning outcomes: knowledge, skills and competences. This allows any national qualifications systems, national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and qualifications in Europe to relate to the EQF levels. Learners, graduates, providers and employers can use these levels to understand and compare qualifications awarded in different countries and by different education and training systems.

  5. Master of Natural Sciences in Geography (LU)

    - to acquire the theoretical content and methodology of geographical research; - to study, on an advanced level, the theoretical content and research methodology of a sub-branch of the geographical science; - to acquire the interdisciplinary approach in research and applied problem solving in the areas of geography of nature, geography of man, planning; - to study theoretical context and skills of practical work in the area of regional and urban development and environment planning, including the study of development and environment resources, their assessment and governance, development of territorial and management plans using methods of research and applied geography; - to carry out independent research (not less than 28 weeks or 28 credit points) in a selected branch of geography and present the results in a Master's thesis, developed on the level corresponding to requirements for a scientific publication.   6. Master of Natural Sciences in Geology (LU)

    - to acquire, on an advanced level, the theoretical content and research methodology of geology; - to acquire, on an advanced level, the theoretical content, methods of field and laboratory research in quaternary geology and geomorphology, applied geology and bedrock geology; - to carry out independent research (not less than 30 full time weeks or 30 credit points) in the selected sub-branch of geology and present the result in the Master's thesis on the level corresponding to requirements for scientific publications.
