  3. Master Programme in Scandinavian Studies

    The Master Programme in Scandinavian Studies is open to students with a Bachelor's degree in Humanities or Social Sciences with a degree specialisation in Scandinavian Studies. The programme opens career possibilities within the field of cultural communication, for instance as an interpreter or information officer in government administration, as well as in public organisations and international companies. The programme also opens career paths in compulsory and upper-secondary schools (language teacher), and for graduate studies. The Master Programme in Scandinavian Studies is a cross-disciplinary programme combining studies in Literature and Scandinavian Studies. The aim is to give students the possibility to study both historical and contemporary cultural expressions, as well as similarities and differences between the Scandinavian languages, and their culture and literature. The programme combines compulsory courses and free electives. It begins with an advanced introduction to Scandinavian language and literature, as well as a course in theory and method (oriented towards either literature or the Swedish language). The second semester includes the courses Sung, Said, Written. Scandinavian Cultural Expressions from 1600 to the Present, and Swedish 18th Century Culture from a European Perspective (alternatively Swedish 18th Century Culture from a Global Perspective).
