    The Bachelor of Science at Reykjavik University is a three-year program (six semesters) of 180 ECTS credits in total. Students take five courses (30 ECTS units) in each semester with the exception of the sixth semester, to which the thesis is the equivalent of two courses (12 ECTS). The Bachelor of Science in Sport Science at RU provides the student with fundamental knowledge of sport and an insight into sports science, in addition to providing an insight into the roles and activities undertaken by sports scientists. In addition to providing the student with a broad competence base in all major industry segments of sport, the program also provides the student with the transferable knowledge, skills and competences that can be used in any sports-related field of work. The program also prepares the student for the academic demands of participating in postgraduate studies in sports science. At the completion of the BSc in Sport Science, students have achieved the learning outcomes shown below the criteria listed below.     Knowledge Upon graduation the student possesses knowledge and understanding relevant to the job. This means that the student: Is familiar with and has an understanding of leisure and its pedagogical value. Has gained a general understanding and insight into the basic theories and concepts in leisure studies, life skills, psychology and outdoor learning. Is familiar with recreation and leisure and the covenants, laws and regulations relating to it, such as activity-curriculums. Is familiar with and understands the theories, concepts and methods on which the work and responsibility of leisure- and social pedagogues is based, i.e. experiential learning, democracy, informal education, leisure education and social pedagogy, and can utilise this knowledge in working with people of all ages.
