  1. Doctoral Degree Programme in Dentistry (4 yrs)

    A doctoral degree consists of general and transferable skills courses, field-specific studies and doctoral thesis work. The purpose of general and transferable skills courses is to introduce the student to the foundation of scientific research and research methods, scientific thinking and writing, the ethical foundation of scientific research work. Field-specific studies are aimed to give the in depth understanding about his/her own field of research and research methods. Field-specific studies can include following: national and international scientific courses for postgraduates, seminar, methods courses, courses related to his/her own field of research, scientific writing courses, working in research institutions, and in some cases a completed specialist degree/education in dentistry. The duration of the doctoral training corresponds to four years of full-time study. The degree includes research work for the thesis, the publication and the public defense of the thesis, and, depending on the discipline, at least 20 ECTS credits of general and transferable skills courses, field-specific studies courses and/or other research-related activities. The goals of the studies are to deepen the student's knowledge of his/her own field, and to develop his/her general knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career.
