This Master enables students to acquire a solid and broad education in the domain of condensed matter physics. The goal in this field is to explain and predict the physical properties of materials ranging from semiconductors to cell membranes, based on their microscopic constituents. Students will be introduced to current research topics during the four semesters of the masters. Hands-on lab activities will immediately introduce them to live research and give them a hint at how it is run at the University’s Physics and Materials Science Research Unit (PHYMS). The first year consists of lectures, seminars, and laboratory classes, whereas the complete second year is exclusively spend on the students' research project. They will carry out their research thesis in one of the four clusters of the Physics and Materials Science Research Unit: Magnetic and Multiferroic Materials Soft and Living Matter Photovoltaics and Semiconductor Physics Theory and Materials Modelling Small teaching groups are organised to let you tackle theory and practice with academics who are recognised as high quality researchers by their international peers. ...
